How We Started

Founded By People Frustrated With Their Own Hosting Bills

DomainHost didn't start as a venture-funded platform with a five-year roadmap — it started because our two founders were running their own small web agency and kept running into the same problem every other agency ran into: hosting companies that quoted a low introductory price, buried the real renewal cost in the fine print, and then routed every support ticket through an outsourced call center reading from a script. Getting a straight answer about a DNS issue at 2am, when a client site was down before a product launch, was nearly impossible. So they built the company they wished existed: transparent pricing shown up front, renewal costs disclosed before checkout instead of after, and a support desk staffed by people who actually understood servers.

That last part turned out to be the harder promise to keep, and also the one that mattered most. Outsourced support is cheaper to scale, which is exactly why so many hosting companies do it — but it also means the person answering your ticket often can't actually fix anything, only escalate it and read you a status update. From day one, DomainHost made the decision to keep support entirely in-house, staffed by trained systems administrators who have real access to the infrastructure they're troubleshooting. It's a more expensive way to run a support desk, and it caps how fast headcount can scale, but it's also the reason customers who switch to us tend to stay.

Rather than pouring early revenue into paid acquisition and advertising, the company reinvested almost everything back into infrastructure — better data centers, redundant network paths, and tooling that let the (still small) support team actually resolve issues quickly instead of just triaging them. That decision is the throughline of everything that followed: growth funded by keeping customers, not by outspending competitors on marketing.

  • Founded to fix hidden renewal pricing and outsourced support
  • Support has always been in-house, never outsourced call centers
  • Growth funded by reinvestment in infrastructure, not ad spend
  • Same transparent pricing principle applied to every product line since
Our Story

A Decade Of Growth, One Data Center At A Time

1

2014 — Founded

Started as a small domain reseller helping a handful of agency clients register and manage domains.

2

2017 — First Data Center

Launched our first owned data center presence and introduced the VPS hosting line.

3

2020 — 1M Domains

Passed one million domains under management and expanded the in-house support team.

4

2025 — Global Scale

120,000+ customers across 140 countries, with 2.4M+ domains managed and 99.99% uptime.

DomainHost Today

Scale Without Losing The Original Promise

A decade later, DomainHost manages more than 2.4 million domains for over 120,000 customers spread across 140 countries, backed by four data center regions and a network engineered to hold 99.99% uptime. Those numbers matter less as marketing points and more as a description of what our engineering priorities actually are: every facility runs on redundant power feeds, redundant cooling, and redundant network paths, so a single failed component — a switch, a PDU, a cooling unit — never takes a customer's site offline. Hardware is monitored proactively rather than reactively; our systems flag degrading drives, memory errors, and thermal anomalies before they cause an outage, and dedicated server customers are covered by a four-hour hardware replacement SLA if something does fail.

The same philosophy that shaped our first support desk still shapes how we hire and train today — every systems administrator on the team works tickets across the full stack, not a narrow specialty, because that's what actually gets a customer's problem solved on the first contact instead of the third escalation. New hires spend their first weeks shadowing live tickets before they're allowed to work a queue independently, and the whole team runs regular postmortems on any incident that touches uptime, so the same failure mode doesn't repeat itself across regions.

Looking ahead, our roadmap centers on three priorities: expanding into additional data center regions to reduce latency for customers outside North America and Europe, building out deeper managed security tooling (automated malware scanning, intrusion detection, and hardened default configurations) so customers don't have to be security experts themselves, and continuing to invest in free public tools like our WHOIS lookup and website speed test — not because they generate direct revenue, but because they're a useful, no-strings-attached resource that builds the kind of trust a support ticket never could. None of that changes the underlying commitment: as the customer count grows past 120,000, support headcount grows with it, not behind it.

What We Stand For

Principles We Don't Compromise On

Transparent Pricing

Renewal prices are shown before checkout, not buried after you've already committed.

Human 24/7 Support

Every ticket reaches a trained systems administrator, never a scripted call center.

In-House Security Team

Our own engineers monitor threats and harden infrastructure — nothing is outsourced.

Redundant Tier-1 Data Centers

Power, cooling, and network are all built with failover so single points of failure don't cause outages.

Freedom To Migrate Anytime

Cancel or move your services whenever you want, with no lock-in contracts or exit fees.

Carbon-Neutral Commitment

Our data center partners are held to carbon-neutral operating standards.

The Same Team That Manages Our Network Answers Your Ticket

Our support desk isn't a separate outsourced operation reading from a script — it's staffed by the same systems administrators who manage our network operations center, so every ticket reaches someone with real access and real context.
